The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an international educational foundation offering four highly respected programmes of international education. The programme reward students by providing a holistic development in their academic growth.
In Malaysia, IBs effective programmes have produced a great number of well rounded students. Due to its popularity and results, some parents would always opt for an IB school or have their children pursue an IB qualification. The four IB programmes cater to students aged 3-19, and also challenges students to excel in their studies.
In Malaysian state schools, there are two IB programmes offered, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Kolej MARA Seremban (KMS) is authorized to offer the IB diploma programme since April 2005. There are three main medium of instructions for this program, namely English, French and Spanish. However, in KMS, the programme is taught in English.
Students selected by KMS, upon fullfilling the requirements, will further study abroad in the fields of either Medicine, Dentistry, Biotechnology, Science/Mathematical Education, Applied Science, Architecture, Health Science, Mineral GeoScience/ Material Science/ Natural Resources and Agronomy/ Crop Production/ Horticulture.
MARA College in Banting has been an IB School since October 1990. The college offers the IBDP for their final year students, which covers the essential subjects as well as including some foreign languages.
Student intakes start in the month of June, each year. Generally, students must obtain at least 24 points and fulfill all activity requirements to be awarded a Diploma. However, in MARA College Banting, students are expected to score between 35-38 points.
Royal Military College (RMC) or Maktab Tentera Diraja offers the IB Diploma programme for their final year students, the programme was authorised in July 2015 and conducts the examinations in the month of May. As inspired by the then Malaya High Commissioner, Field Marshall Tun Sir Gerald Templer, RMC aims to prepare young Malaysians to take their places as officers in the Malaysian Armed Forces, in the higher divisions of the public service and as leaders in the professional, commercial and industrial life of the country.

At MCKK Kuala Kangsar, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is a highly acclaimed programme for students aged 17-19. Curriculum at MCKK is an elite, challenging, two-year programme of international education, where students are required to study six subjects and a curriculum core concurrently. This programme is designed to equip students with balanced foundation and advantageous skills in preparation for university studies, further education and their chosen profession. Students also develop the values and skills needed to become progressive and responsible global citizens.
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
The MYP Programme in MCKK is offered to students aged 13-17. The MYP subjects offered at MCKK are divided into eight subject groups. Each subject group requires a minimum of 50 hours of teaching a year.

SM Sains Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra, Kota Bharu is an International Baccalaureate school (IB) Middle Years Programme. They gained recognition on 20th September 2016.
SMK Pantai has been accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as International Baccalaureate Middle Year Program (MYP IB) on July 22, 2016.
MYP teachers in this school will be able to identify and provide students who have special educational needs to allow the students to take part in the MYP IB activities together with students who do not have special educational needs, as best as they could. The SMKPP 9(2) MYP IB will strictly observe the Inclusion Code of Practice when carrying out its duties to all students with special educational needs and ensure that parents are informed of a decision by the school on the provision made for their children.
SMK Seri Tualang, Pahang is one of the 10 schools chosen by the Education Ministry to be pioneers in making the MYP a successful programme in Malaysian public schools. It was authorized as an IB school on 27th September 2016.
SMK Sungai Tapang, Kuching is the first public school to be awarded the International Baccalaureate (IB) World School Authorisation (18th April 2016) offering IB Middle Years Programme in Malaysia.
