15,793 students scored straight As in SPM

Results for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination were released today. Students who scored straight As reached 15,793, an increase of 714 candidates or 0.13% compared to 2011. Among the top scorers, 13,721 were from government schools (12,970 in 2011) while 2,072 were from private schools (2,109 in 2011) .

Students who scored A+ for all of their subjects totaled 481, 431 from government schools while the rest from private schools.

Despite these glowing numbers, the National Average Grade (GPN) dipped slightly from 5.04 in 2011 to 5.08 in 2012.

In terms of subject performance, 51 subjects showed improvement, including Mathematics and Moral Education.A total of 472,541 candidates took the SPM examination last year, which was held from 5 November to 6 December 2012.
