Healthy active families enjoy being together. Family time doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. Often, the simplest activities contribute to important family bonding and long-term memories. Here are activities we can start doing with our family this year:

1. Start a Positivity Jar

Why: Making new resolutions is great but how do you measure them?

How: Gather clear jars from around the house and assign one to each family member. Decorate them as you like, make it personal! Write down your milestones throughout the year and put it in the jar.

Goal: To open the jar at the end of the year and encourage family members to fill them up with meaningful deeds.

2. Build a Small Garden

Why: Coloring your thumbs green as a team.

How: Start with plants that require no soil like beans and gradually move on to potted herbs. Make your own pots using plastic bottles or buy cute ceramics from your local store such as Daiso!

Goal: Record the progress of the plant's growth and use it as an analogy to how you grow together as a family.

3. Make a Time Capsule

Why: Preserving your resolutions is a fun way to celebrate your family now and later.

How: Design your resolutions in creative ways. Pile everything into an archival box, then stow it away in a cool, dark place. Add a silica-gel pack (which comes with new shoes) to absorb moisture.

Goal: Set a date for the big reveal, preferably by the end of the year. Compare them to the Positivity Jar (see 1).

4. Start a Family Book Club
