In Terengganu, 76 schools, of which 55 are primary schools, have achieved the academic target set by the state government for public examinations last year. Launched by Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said in March 2010, the target is regarding the percentage of students scoring straight As.
The state government had set aside around RM300,000 to give the 'Anjung Ilmu' Award to chosen schools to motivate the teachers to excel and improve the academic performance of their schools, said State Education, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Human Resources Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.
