Garden International School (GIS) recently held a celebration in conjunction with the United Nations Day. Students and teachers alike paraded around the school grounds proudly dressed in clothing from their home country and waving flags.

Holding on to the key message of the day which was 'We is stronger than I', students sang the popular FIFA World Cup song titled 'We Are One' in front of a crowd made up of parents, friends and visitors. Moira Hall, the Assistant Head of Primary emphasized on how "It is not about celebrating the differences but how we are one."
The community of GIS students and parents, who are known for their supportive community spirit stood by as primary and secondary students lead an assembly through songs and speeches to raise awareness about the United Nations, its missions and what people can do to make a difference.

There was also a buffet featuring over one hundred international delicacies such as Malaysian nasi lemak, Danish pastries, Korean kimbap and also Japanese sushi to name a few. Joanne Julien, Director of Inclusion remarked, "As my first UN celebration at GIS KL it certainly made me feel proud to work in such a positive, multi cultural school with such a great team and wonderful children. All the parents I spoke to were very impressed.”
