Nine Member Panel Announced To Review Public Exam SOP

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced the members of an independent panel that is tasked at reviewing the standard operating procedure (SOP) for public examinations.

Datuk Idris Jusoh, the Minister of Education II when announcing the members of this panel at Putrajaya remarked that members of this independent panel were high-profile individuals with expertise in law, education, cyber-security and multimedia communications.

The nine members of the independent panel include Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, the former Chief Justice who will be the panel’s chairman,  the President of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity, Datuk Dr. Mohammad Tap Salleh, Tan Sri Prof. Dr. Sharifah Hapsah, former Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Datuk Dr. Asariah Mior, the former Deputy Director-General of Education, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commision (MCMC), Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi, Director-General of Chief Government Security Office, Datuk Johari Jamaluddin, Dr. Amirudin Wahab, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Tan Sri, Kumaran, the former Deputy Minister of Rural & Regional Development and Lok Yim Pheng, Secretary General of the National union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP).

The panel is tasked with reviewing the SOP of public examinations and provide recommendations to MOE within the next three months in the areas of operatuions, management and manpower.

Following massive outrage over the leaked UPSR papers, the Ministry have vowed that perpetrators of the leak will be punished severely as some 400,000 students will be retaking the English and Science papers this 30th September.
