2017 Elena Cooke Education Fund

 Applications for the 2017 Elena Cooke Education Fund scholarships are now open, as from March 6, 2017, to Malaysians below 23 years old as at  December 31, 2016 who have obtained at least 3As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and who meet other criteria as stated in the application form and the relevant educational institution’s course entry requirements.The Fund, set up in honour of the late Miss Elena Cooke, the longest serving headmistress of the Bukit Bintang Girls’ School (BBGS), aims to help underprivileged young people, whether they live with their families or were raised in children’s homes and orphanages, to pursue quality education after SPM in local colleges or universities.

CRITERIA

  • Malaysians below 23 years old as at December 31, 2016 who have obtained at least 3As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and who meet other criteria as stated in the application form and the relevant educational institution’s course entry requirements.
  •  Household income must not be more than RM42,000.00 per annum.
  • Applicants who have already commenced their courses will NOT be eligible.

CRITERIA

Application requirements are based on the following 3 categories:Ph.D
  • The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
  • Not more than 35 years on the date of application;
  • Candidate has obtained excellent results in the Bachelor's degree in pure science that is at least a CGPA of 3.65 and above or First Class;
  • Candidates do not have any commitments of any sponsor during the earlier stages of study or funders willing to renounce the contract if offered a scholarship;
  • Candidates who are currently serving in any public or private sector and are ready to resign if the offer scholarships;
  • Candidates who are studying at the undergraduate level for a full investigation will be given priority; and
  • Candidates currently pursuing a Ph.D or have finished their studies in pure science either within the country or in the universities through the portal application.
 Masters
  • The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
  • Not more than 28 years on the date of application;
  • Candidate has obtained excellent results in the Bachelor's degree in pure science that is at least a CGPA of 3.65 and above or First Class;
  • Candidates do not have any commitments of any sponsor during the earlier stages of study or funders willing to renounce the contract if offered a scholarship;
  • Candidates who are currently serving in any public or private sector and are ready to resign if the offer scholarships;
  • Mode of study must be in research mode and full-time; and
  • Candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or have finished their studies in pure science either within the country or in the universities listed by the portal application.
 Bachelor's degree
  • The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
  • Not more than 21 years on the date of application;
  • Candidates obtaining a minimum CGPA of 3.6 and above in rank Science Foundation / Matriculation / STPM / Diploma, 1800/2400 Scale for all tests in the SAT, 40/45 in the IB and A Level 4A;
  • Students who are in their final semester on all institutions of higher learning; and
  • Students have not received receive scholarships / sponsorship / agreement of any sponsors.

 The New Zealand Scholarship, ASEAN Scholar Award for the year 2017 is now open  to Malaysian students who qualify for the academic year 2017.Scholarships under the New Zealand Foreign Affairs and Trade is offering scholarships for the study level of Bachelors, Masters and PhD in Agricultural Development, Renewable Energy, Disaster Risk Management, Public Sector  Management and Private Sector Development.

The Tun Suffian Scholarship

 Since its establishment on 11 June 2002 the Tun Suffian Foundation, under the Joint Royal Patronage of Their Royal Highnesses the Sultan and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, has, among other things, provided financial assistance to young Malaysians pursuing law studies and young lawyers attending educational seminars and conferences both here and abroad.The Tun Suffian Cambridge Scholarship (modelled on the Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships initiated after the death of Cecil Rhodes in 1902 to bring outstanding students to the University of Oxford) has received official recognition from the authorities at Cambridge. In March 2008, Low Weng Tchung, a Perak-born Malaysian student became the first Tun Suffian Scholar at Cambridge where he obtained a first class in the LLM degree.In addition to the Tun Suffian Cambridge Scholarship, the Foundation, subject to availability of qualified applicants, is also offering the following awards:

  • Bachelor of Law (LLB) at Malaysian Public Universities recognised by the Qualifying Board of the Malaysian Bar

  • ALL SCHOLARS (except post-medical/health scholars) must undertake:
(a) That they are not in receipt of any other scholarship, fellowship or monetary grant from any other body;(b) That if at any time in the future a scholar obtains any other scholarship, fellowship or monetary grant from any other body, the scholar shall immediately inform the Foundation, in which event his/her Tun Suffian Scholarship would be withdrawn forthwith and all monies while expended by the Foundation on the scholar shall be refunded by him/her without delay.

Khazanah-INCEIF Scholarship Programme 2017

Applications for the Khazanah – INCEIF Scholarship for postgraduate degrees at INCEIF are open for Malaysians, for Master of Science in Islamic Finance and Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Finance.INCEIF (International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance) was set up by Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) in 2005 to develop human capital for the global Islamic finance industry. Xiamen University Scholarship 2017

 XMU offers scholarships to doctoral, master’s and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuition covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2 or 3 years for master's programmes, 4 or 5 years for undergraduate programmes).
