14 year old swimmer, Anjali Lim is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Winning her first medal at the tender age of 9, she strives to become the best in the arena by participating in more swimming competitions over the years. She also managed to break her first record (a long standing 17 year old record) when she was only 10 years old.GIS SwimmingAnjali's biggest achievement to date is representing Malaysia at the 2016 South East Asia Age Group swimming competition which was held in Danang, Vietnam. She recently won 3 gold medals from Sipma Perlis 2015 held in December last year."Meeting Anjali 18 months ago, it struck me how determined and driven she was to give her best, train hard and leave no stone unturned in her pursuit of swimming improvements. It is an unusual trait for someone of her age and is a key component of her success to date. A skill which also sets her apart is her willingness to question, always looking for the ways in which she can improve her performance before putting her mind to making the change without needing to be reminded. The next few years will be very exciting to see her development with Tokyo 2020 getting closer on the horizon," her coach, Richard Molloy commented.GIS SwimmingWhen asked about her motto in life, Anjali replied with a quote from Misty Hyman the winner of 200m butterfly during Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics, “On any given day, an ordinary person who has done the work and has the courage to try, can win. The only thing we have control of, is the ability to do our best”. For more information on Garden International School, click here.
