Education ministry tightens security to avoid more exam paper leaks

To ensure that exam leaks do not recur, the Malaysian Education Ministry has tightened its standard operating procedures.Through the help of an independent panel that looked into the SOP and other related matters, the ministry unveiled its latest plan to combat exam leaks:

  • Reshuffling and relocating officers to tighten up the procedures in managing and handling public examinations
  • Officers directly involved in the handling of the exam papers will have to undergo screening process, and will be required to sign a declaration under the Official Secrets Act
  • Installation of closed circuit television cameras at vaults nationwide which are used to store the exam papers
  • Stern action will applied to if any officer or staff member was found to be responsible for the leaks.
