Sri KDU International school paid tribute to the unsung heroes who have helped maintain the school grounds and ensuring students' safety on the night of 11th June 2015.

The VIPs were the Nepali staff who consisted of the security guards and school custodians who sat at the VIP table at the very front. These brave young men and women who travelled thousands of kilometres from their hometown were celebrated via a fundraising dinner organized by the students and staff in Sri KDU International School.

In the midst of hectic exam preparations for the Sri KDU students, the school managed to collect funds totalling to around RM 20,000. All proceeds will be channelled to Next Generation Nepal, a small NGO dedicated to ensuring that all funds are used exclusively for the people of Nepal, affected by the Gorkha earthquake which struck on the 25th April, killing more than 8,800 people and injuring more than 23,000.

The night began with a heartfelt speech from the principal, Mrs Rafee, who spoke of the importance of treating everyone with equality and fairness, followed by a dance performance by IB Junior students.

The students from years 7 to 9 performed poetry recitals. A senior from year 10 played the piano. A pair of Year 9 students performed both the piano and violin.

Next, there was an enthralling performance by the SKIS Cheerleading Team who had recently been Gold medallists at the Aisa Cheerleading Invitational Championships Singapore 2015.

The night ended with a spirited closing address from the Vice Principal, Mrs Mason. She acknowledged and thanked the staff who were dedicated in ensuring the event went on without any hitches.

Thankfully, buildings might be broken, family members might have perished but the people of Nepal are even stronger than before and united in their common love for their land. The funds will be used to rebuild the schools, clinics, hospitals and homes in Nepal.
