Adenan Satem, Sarawak chief minister has reportedly agreed in principle to recognize graduates of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) for entry as civil service staff and Sarawak's public university, Unimas (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak).Putrajay is still reluctant to recognize UES stating that the certificate issued by Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary Schools (MICSS) as failing to comply with the national education system's policies and curriculum.However, UEC graduates will still need to pass with a credit in Bahasa Malaysia in order for their qualification to be recognized in Sarawak.
