About Marlborough College Malaysia

Marlborough College Malaysia is a fully coeducational, and independent British boarding and day school located in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia. Catering for pupils aged 3 to 18, within a purpose-built 90-acre site that includes an organic farm, golf driving range and lake for watersports.

Marlborough College is a community where scholarship is cherished, creativity celebrated, diversity enhanced and conversation is paramount.

In addition to promoting and achieving academic excellence, our mission is to encourage children to explore, through compassion, companionship and conversation; and from that exploration, to build confidence and communities for good.

This will develop well rounded balanced individuals who will maximise their own considerable potential and contribute to society in a positive way.

A Diverse Community
A total of 72% of expatriates and international students are from Europe, America, Oceania, East Asia and various Southeast Asian countries. Malaysian pupils represent 28% of the community — the second largest population in the school.

Accreditation
MCM received the Patron’s Accreditation by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), an accredited member of the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), a member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA). They have a link as a service partner organisation with the Master of Applied Positive Psychology Programme by the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and more.

Academically, MCM is an IB World School, an Edexcel-approved Centre of Excellence and accredited by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).

Scholarships
MCM’s Scholarship Programme is provided to current and prospective students in their preferred fields: academia, sports, drama and music. The Programme is developed to encourage leadership and inspire all students to set the bar high in MCM.
 

MCM follows the British National Curriculum for students age 3 to 16 and offers the internationally recognised IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at the pre-university level through the Sixth Form.

MCM’s pupils sit for the core subjects, and many choose four more subjects from the elective list:

IB Diploma Programme at Marlborough College Malaysia

Pupils sitting for the IB Diploma Programme must sit for three Higher Level (HL) courses and three Standard Level (SL) courses. There is an extensive list of subjects offered for the following groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Humanities, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and Arts.

The IB programme has run for six years, and MCM’s candidates’ average score is 35 points, the equivalent of AAA at A Level. IB candidates at MCM have exceeded the World average of 33. In 2021, the IB results saw a 100% pass rate success which surpassed the 89% worldwide average. Of the 79 IB Diploma candidates at MCM, 20% achieved scores over 40 points, which enables MCM’s pupils to gain places at top universities in the world.
 

 

The spacious 90-acre campus with outstanding facilities allows for excellent sporting and outdoor pursuits opportunities. MCM also place high value in the contribution of music, art, drama and service to others in the holistic education that we deliver to the pupils in our care.

Boarding at Marlborough College Malaysia is available for Year 5 (9-years-old) and above. There are four boarding houses, each assigned with a Housemaster or Housemistress, a Resident Home Tutor, a Dame and a team of visiting tutors. Boarding pupils can enjoy the campus facilities and be supervised for prep sessions in the evening.

Boarding pupils will also enjoy a range of structured, recreational and social activities throughout their stay: from sports, drama, art, music and languages. The activities will satisfy pupils’ learning needs and development.

Co-curricular activities at MCM aims to challenge the critical part of a meaningful, holistic education. All pupils are expected to take part in the activities available at the school, such as sports, art, drama and music.

MCM has dedicated professional tutors for music with 280 lessons each week for all pupils, ranging from piano, vocals, violin, percussions, and more. Pupils may also sit for their music examinations through ABRSM and Trinity, as MCM is a registered examination centre for both music exams.

There is an extensive bus network that we run in Johor for Day pupils to commute to and from school. Payment for the service is per term.
