rock parentsIt’s the school holidays and your family has travelled every continent, climbed all the mountains, swam all the oceans and went to the best restaurants.  Now is the time to dig up the contents of the closet, dust off the sleeves of your old band cassettes and wrap a red bandana around your head. But wait, you ask: aren’t my children too young for the lyrics to Summer of ’69 or Bohemian Rhapsody?Since children learn better from their peers anyway, we’ll let you relax and let these young’uns do all the work:

1. Kuha’o

kuha'oA rocker attitude is one that stands up to seemingly impossible challenges. Not every day can someone admit to overcoming a permanent physical disability, except maybe for audio genius Kuha’o. Born in Hawaii as the oldest of three children, the always smiling pianist has been blind since infancy. But that has not stopped him from playing the piano only by listening to a song once.

2. Babymetal

babymetalDon’t let the scary sounding drum beats fool you. Su-metal, Moametal and Yuimetal sing about doing homework (Gimme Choco!!), sweetly asking daddy for more pocket money (Onedari Daikusen) and saying no to bullying (Ijime-Dame-Zettai).  They have performed twice at the prestigious Budokan stage and also was an opening act for Lady Gaga this year.

3. Tsung Tsung

Who says you can’t rock to classical music? The piano prodigy became famous after his father posted videos of Tsung Tsung’s swift fingers flying over the piano keys. Many had their doubts but were soon a fan after the (then) five year old appeared on Ellen playing the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov composition, "Flight Of The Bumblebee". He ended said performance with a fist in the air, not unlike Freddie Mercury.

4. Unlocking the Truth

The trio is a heavy metal band made up of three Brooklyn-based 11-year-olds. Malcolm Brickhouse plays electric guitar, Jarad Dawkins plays the drums, and Alec Atkins is on bass. They understand the importance of going to school and love science and social studies. The history of how they met could not be more legendary: the boys met at daycare.

5. Jaxon Smith

You know you’re a rockstar when Pearl Jam stops in the middle of their concert to tell you they are a fan. Born in 2005 and weighed only one pound, the self-taught drummer has his own YouTube page and can be seen rocking to songs by the Foo Fighters and The Who.Don’t forget to LIKE us on Facebook and receive updates and consultation on all matters related to Private and International schools in Malaysia.
