On 25 February 2012, the Perak government has launched the ezlearn2u e-learning portal. Worth RM2.5 million, the programme will benefit over 230,000 students and 25,000 teachers. The online tutoring portal is managed by Star Vitalnet Technology Sdn Bhd, a private online education content provider.Pupils and teachers can now access more than 1,400 instruction and tutorial videos via the www.EzLearn2U.my portal. Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the online learning initiative was part of the state's aim of developing a knowledge-based society that would use information technology to improve their lives.

The online tutoring programme was not an alternative to normal schooling and the state government had agreed to support the new initiative to complement the school system, added Zambry.

"We have carried out our own research and found that the content provided through the ezlearn2u is effective in helping pupils to learn certain tough subjects.

"Many students who hate subjects like Chemistry, Physics, History, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, started to pay more attention and got better results." he said.

Secondary students

Besides the "Tuisyen Gemilang" and "Mind-Mapping" programmes started few years back, Zambry said ezlearn2u is the latest programme supported by the state government to help those who struggled in their studies. The online tutoring would be provided to students sitting for their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and pupils studying in Form One to Form Six.
