Sabah aims more schools to promote health awareness

By 2015, the Sabah Health Department hopes that at least 50% of all primary schools in the state will have established the Young Doctors Club.Until last year, there were 1,652 schools across the nation, with 43,372 students, had joined the programme, said Department director Dr Christina Rundi.However, so far, only 146 of the 1,070 schools in Sabah have partipated in the programme, added Christina.

The co-curricular activity was first introduced by the Health Ministry in 1989. It involves schoolchildren, aged between 9 and 12, who guide their friends in living a healthy lifestyle.
