Scholarships for SPM leavers 2016

The SPM examinations are almost over, students now need to think about their next big move in education. With countless scholarships available for students from various sources, it's easy to get confused. Here, we list some of the major scholarships available for SPM high achievers.

1. IB Diploma Scholarship Offer by International School of Kuala Lumpur

Scholarship Info

The scholarship covers tuition fees for a two-year study at ISKL, inclusive of the external examination fee and other compulsory requirements. This scholarship programme, approved by the Ministry of Education Malaysia has been offered since 2002.

Application Requirements

• Excellent academic records: Submit application with SPM 2016 trial exam results including past three years official academic records (translated in English)
• Personal statement from applicant
• SPM 2016 examination results (presented at the panel interview or prior)
• Teacher recommendations
• Extra curricular involvement
• Previous commitment to community service
• Completed ISKL Application for Admission form
• Authorisation to Release School Records form
• A photocopy of the applicant's Malaysian identity card
• Two recent passport-size color photographs of the student, with the student's name written on the back

2. Creative Talent Award 2017 (IACT)

Scholarship Info

IACT College is offering the Creative Award for 2017 intake. This award is open to students of all nationalities from public, private and international schools in Malaysia.

Application Requirement

• The candidate should have a very good command over the English language.
• Latest Form 5 Results/SPM/O Level: 1A and above
• UEC: minimum 24 points or SM3 results with 70% and above
• CAL: CCC
• Foundation/Diploma/Other Matriculations: 70% or CGPA 3.0 and above

Preferred Discipline

• Foundation in Media Studies
• Diploma in Graphic Design
• Diploma in Mass Communication
• Diploma in Marketing and Advertising
• Diploma in Broadcasting
• BA (Hons) Advertising and Design 3+0

• Step 3: Attach all required supporting documents together with the completed application form (only certified true copies are accepted).
• Step 4: Submit the application form and supporting documents via email to scholarships-at-iact.edu.my or in person to IACT Admissions Department at IACT College, VSQ, PJ.

3. IPAC Education @ INTEC Education College

Scholarship Info

 IPAC Education @ INTEC opens two new intakes for graduates of Diploma & Bachelor in Accountancy from local and non-local universities. January 2017 intake is also opened for SPM leavers (forecast result) for Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) programme.Application Requirement

• Minimum Qualifications: CGPA 3.00 and above
• Open to all Malaysian Bumiputera with the age not older than 25 years old
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
• Subsistence allowance will be given to successful candidates
• Open to all students with Diploma or Bachelor in Accounting from local and non-local universities.
• SPM leavers can also apply for CAT, January 2017 intake. Minimum requirement: 5As including  Mathematics.

4. University of Southampton High Achiever Scholarship

Scholarship Info

This scholarships offers a reduction in tuition fees at the University of Southampton (Malaysia Campus). It's applicable to Year One entry students and for the first year of study only. No separate application is required as students are automatically considered.

Application Requirement

• Minimum of AAA grades in A-Levels (must include A in Maths and A in Physics, not including General Studies and Critical Thinking).
• 5As and above in SPM / O-levels

5. University of Southampton Top Achiever Scholarship

Scholarship Info

100% scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding students entering University of Southampton Malaysia Campus. These scholarships do not include living expenses and are only applicable to Year One entry students and for the first year of study.

Application Requirement

• 9A+ and above in SPM / 9A* and above in O-level
• Must include A in Physics and Mathematics, and minimum B+ in Additional Mathematics
• Applicable to Malaysian students only
• Scholarship is non-transferable and only applies whilst the recipient remains a registered, full-time, active student for the duration of the programme.
• Recipients of the Top Achiever scholarship must pursue an undergraduate programme with University of Southampton Malaysia Campus after the completion of the Engineering Foundation Year studies.
• The recipient will need to refund the scholarship amount in full in the event of change of course or university.

7. Intel Malaysia Scholarship 2016

 

Scholarship Info

Intel Malaysia grants scholarships every year to outstanding talents from various local and private universities throughout the country.

Application Requirement

• Be a Malaysian citizen
• Be a full-time student in a local university studying in the fields of Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Physics or Computer Engineering
• Not hold any other scholarship from other companies, organisations, or Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA)**

Have one or more of the following:

• SPM with A1 for mathematics and all science subjects
• STPM with grade A for a minimum of three subjects
• Matriculation with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above
• For university undergraduates, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 is required

**Note: Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional Malaysia (PTPTN) loan holders are allowed to apply.
