About International School of Kuantan
The International School of Kuantan is a private international school located in Kuantan, Pahang. The school considers itself a university preparatory institution and prides itself on promoting critical and creative thinking and problem solving. Established in 1996, ISK uses the North American curriculum as its curriculum. Its programmes are modelled on the curricula and practices of outstanding public and private schools in the US. ISK is a full member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) and in 2003 was accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).International School of Kuantan offers a broad programme in the English to students based on the best of North American and other western curriculum models.
Students sit for the SATs exams that measures critical reading, writing, and math abilities and the International Schools’ Assessment, an achievement test designed for students in Grades 3, 5, 7, and 9 or 10 in international schools worldwide. An alternative to the SATs are the American College Tests which the school also conducts.
The school provides an English as a second language programme for students who have a limited command of the English language. With English as the main medium of instruction ehre at ISK, other languages such as Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia are used in the curriculum as well.
Presently, International School of Kuantan has four classrooms, a computer lab, library and administrative office. There is also a football field, basketball court, volleyball court and badminton court on campus. It has access to the science laboratories and other facilities of the Pahang Institution of Professional Development.
Development plans of ISK includes additional classrooms and dedicated labs for ICT and music along with a multipurpose hall.
