The President of the National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP), Mr. Hasim Adnan has pointed out that the current Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of India and Malaysia to recruit English teachers from India is not a good idea to be executed. This was due to the fact that teachers from India are foreign tutors who may not acclimatize with the local culture here in Malaysia and the fact that the delivery of the subject may be affected due to the English being their (the teachers from India) second language as well. Mr. Hashim also pointed out that Malaysia has sufficient number of English teacher and retired teachers could be recruited to address any problems of shortage.
