About Al-Hamra Integrated School

Al-Hamra Integrated School (AHIS) is located in the heart of Kota Damansara, which serves as a strategic hub to prominent locations in the Klang Valley. Offering both International and National syllabus, AHIS instils Islamic values that based on the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH in every aspect of education. Our vision is to become an exemplary Islamic education institution that produces inspiring future leaders. To achieve this, we strive to instill the culture of Khairu Ummah (culture of excellence) that focuses on educational excellence and character development based on the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Safety and Security of the School

AHIS is serious about safety and security.  Vigilance is part of the school’s DNA.  On top of having fifty CCTV cameras that monitor everything, AHIS has a Safety Team that is supervised by the Principal and has specific SOPs that govern the arrival and entry of students into the school, the movement of students in the school, their well-being in school, and their safe departure from school that is based on a safety check and special pass. No one can enter and leave the school unless AHIS staff knows about it and permits it.  All the processes and procedures are clearly recorded in the AHIS Parents and Students Guideline that is shared with all stakeholders at the beginning of each year.

School Discipline

Safety and Discipline go hand in hand at AHIS, with a strict policy that covers expected behaviour, rights and responsibilities, child protection, disciplinary action plan (that as a clear and explicit infraction and consequence flow chart for all to follow) and other important points.

Homework

At AHIS homework is important but we care about the purpose and quality as opposed to quantity.  Homework is assigned twice weekly per subject except for Arabic and Quran and appropriate so that students can complete it independently; it serves to reinforce what was learned during the week.

2nd Language Options

While the language of instruction at AHIS is English, we focus and emphasise on Bahasa Malayu and Arabic as part of our school identity.  Students are encouraged to communicate in their national tongue and rewarded for doing so.  You can walk on AHIS hallways at any given time and hear Arabic, Bahasa and English.  Last but not least, AHIS offers French, German and Mandarin as Extra Curricular Activities for those who have a taste for more.

At AHIS, we focus on Teaching for Learning, meaning we evaluate our teaching methods based on outcomes.  If the students learn and learn well, it means our teachers are delivering.  Assessment based practices are at the core of our Ethos.  Project Based Learning, formative assessments are much more important than summative assessments as they show us a more organic picture of our students’ progress.  Progress is celebrated just as much as achievement and no one is left behind, hence AHIS has a Special Needs Program.  At the same time, we emphasis on character building based on the Holy Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad PBUH in our teaching and learning’s core activities which includes teaching method, two-way communication, students’ activities, and learning resources. We do not shy on competing at the international level and taking the common standardised national and international assessments under Cambridge Assessment International Education and the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
