About Charterhouse Malaysia
Charterhouse Malaysia is a secondary and pre-university international school in Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur, providing a focused pathway from Year 9 through A Level. Unlike a conventional all-through international school, Charterhouse Malaysia specialises in the later years of secondary education and pre-university preparation.
The school positions itself around “Future Ready” education, combining academic rigour with independent learning, design thinking, entrepreneurship, community engagement and the development of skills that students can apply beyond school.
Its admissions philosophy looks beyond examination results, seeking students who demonstrate personal growth, leadership, community engagement and transformative potential. The school places particular emphasis on the values of perseverance, responsibility, moral courage, open-mindedness and kindness.
The Year 9 IGCSE Foundation programme is designed for students who require a structured transition into the IGCSE years.
The programme focuses on strengthening literacy, numeracy, scientific thinking, study habits and subject knowledge while simultaneously developing critical thinking, collaboration, communication and independent learning.
Students also participate in the school's Future Ready Learning programme, which incorporates broader skills and projects alongside academic preparation.
Students in Years 10 and 11 follow the IGCSE programme.
Charterhouse places strong emphasis on independent study and research, with regular Teacher Marked Assessments (TMAs) mapped against examination requirements. The school also integrates Spectra Smarts and Design Thinking into its teaching approach.

Years 12 and 13 follow the A Level programme, preparing students for university and future academic pathways.
The school emphasises academic independence, research, critical thinking and preparation for higher education. Students can also undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), providing an opportunity for extended independent research and project work.
Charterhouse's A Level programme uses globally recognised examination boards including Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel.
Future Ready Learning is a major component of the Charterhouse experience.
The programme is designed to develop students beyond traditional academic knowledge, focusing on skills such as:
Critical thinking
Creativity
Problem-solving
Collaboration
Communication
Adaptability
Independent learning

Entrepreneurship
The school incorporates design thinking principles into its academic curriculum, encouraging students to understand problems, develop ideas, test solutions and reflect on outcomes.
Students undertake Independent Learning Projects (ILP) throughout their time at Charterhouse.
These projects provide opportunities for students to conduct research, investigate real-world issues, engage with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, participate in community projects and develop independent study skills.
For university-bound students, these projects can also provide useful experience in research and extended academic work.
