About Charterhouse Malaysia

We are an English-medium International School located in Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur. Our Future Ready education is geared towards 16 to 19-year-old, preparing our students for A-Levels in a varied and dynamic learning environment.

Resembling a modern university, Charterhouse Malaysia's campus revolves around the fundaWith modernity and functionality in mind, Charterhouse Malaysia's campus revolves around the fundamental belief that learning no longer happens exclusively in the classroom. The layout was inspired by the work of futurist David Thornburg, who identified four archetypal learning spaces that promote the best learning outcomes.

The four archetypal namely :

  i) The campfire (where students gather to listen to their teacher)

ii) Cave (quiet spaces for independent study and reflection)

iii) Watering hole (informal, social spaces where students can gather and

     exchange ideas)

iv) Mountain top ( areas like the auditorium and gallery spaces where students can publicly demonstrate their knowledge and understanding)

Each facility provides flexibility in its spaces to accommodate specific needs. Following are the available facilities available on site:

  •  Library

  •  Auditorium

  •  Science laboratory

  •  Theatre facilities

  •  Student support services

  •  Audio/visual room

The curriculum offered by Charterhouse is A-Level Programme. The duration of this course is two years. Academic excellence is just one facet of Charterhouse's multilateral programme. The programme prioritises independent learning projects to enhance service learning in the community, a Design Thinking approach to problem-solving, co-curricular activities via the Charterhouse Forum. The delivery of the curriculum is in a  blended and hybrid learning model that allows students to switch seamlessly between face-to-face and online learning. The learning model of Charterhouse Malaysia aims to provide skills to thrive for the future and the necessary cognitive skills.

Additionally, the school's Spectra Smarts intelligence-based programme has been designed to help students become more adaptable and employable individuals. Charterhouse has developed a programme that focuses on developing human intelligence that artificial intelligence (AI) cannot replicate. For example, social intelligence (people), metacognitive intelligence (thinking) and meta contextual intelligence (situations and emotional intelligence).

Students admitted to Charterhouse Malaysia are encouraged to initiate and develop their interest with faculty members, staff or off-campus institutions. This programme aims to aid students' understanding and communication that ties together with practical skills. As the school is a city campus, extracurricular activities like clubs and activities are held within the campus. Whereas for activities outside that requires facilities, Charterhouse Asia has partnerships with sports grounds located in Bukit Kiara.

Charterhouse Malaysia believes students are leaders, and numerous diverse ways will be provided in which to inspire. Part of the experience of Charterhouse upon enrolment students will be part of a house system. It is de-facto that all students will become members of the Charterhouse Forum, which acts as a platform for students to explore leadership roles or active participation roles and impact the Charterhouse Community and life post graduating Charterhouse.

The Charterhouse Forum is a student-led body that is responsible for the personal development of students. The Forum is democratically led by an Executive Committee consisting of Head Students, House Captains, Chair of the Student Council, President of Interact and the Chief Environmental Warrior. Subcommittees report to the executive, providing many leadership opportunities under many different strands of activity, such as Sport, Performing Arts, Creative Arts, Community Outreach, Technology, to name a few.

The minimum spread of results would be 6 grade Bs at IGCSE, SPM or equivalent and should include the subjects they wish to study at A-Level or a related discipline. All students are chosen on merit, regardless of nationality, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion.
