About Melaka International School
Modelled after the British school system, the Melaka International School was established in 1993 with support from the State Economic Development Corporation and the Melaka Foundation.The country's first green school, Melaka International School boasts two acres of land that have been converted into an organic farm with features that use solar power and a rainwater retention pond to recycle water. Students at MIS are given first-hand knowledge and taught how to farm organically.
Melaka International School offers a broad and challenging curriculum for students from kindergarten all the way to secondary with the IGCSE (O Level) and A Level examinations.The curriculum is adapted from the QCA Scheme Framework, the Cambridge IGCSE and 'A' Level syllabus as they approach public examinations.
Melaka International School also prepares students for the Cambridge Checkpoint and International Competition & Assessments for Schools in English, Mathematics, Science and ICT.
There is a library which houses 5000 books, ICT labs and science labs as well. Students enjoy doing fun experiments, science fair ideas, electrical and electronic component usage, magical power of magnets, light characteristics, life science activities, microorganism slides, human anatomy charts, models, dissecting sets, microscope.
Melaka International School has its own two acre organic farm where students are provided with first-hand knowledge and life experiences of organic farming. Beside the on-campus organic farm of the school, Melaka International School has another 25 acre camp site that also serves as a nature farm in Kesang. The site has chalet and camping facilities with water and electricity provided. The school organises periodical trips and camping tours to the farm.
