About Kinabalu International School

Established in the 1973, Kinabalu International School is a welcoming and family friendly school, located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. 

Kinabalu International School (KIS) provides provides an international education, following the British Curriculum, for students aged 12 months to 18 years old. We take pride in providing an education that develops all aspects of a student's intellectual, physical, creative, social and moral character. Everybody is valued as an individual, student learning is at the very heart of everything we do and we aspire to nurture truly global citizens.

The Kinabalu International School is a not-for-profit organisation, accredited by the Council of International Schools and a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA).

Our student body is comprised of over 30 different nationalities from around the world and our very capable and professional teaching staff represent nearly ten nationalities. Our educational programmes follow the English National Curriculum where students are supported and guided to develop their skills and knowledge. Leading to the Cambridge International IGCSE and A-Level examinations, our students are well-prepared to enter universities throughout the world.

We are proud of our school and of the achievements of the members of our school community, but we are not complacent. We seek to continuously improve the quality of our facilities and the educational programmes we offer to better serve our students' learning and personal development.

We recognise that each member of our community is unique and for us to be able to provide each child with the very best education, we need to be student-centered in our approach. We challenge each student to strive for personal and professional excellence in all that they do, so they are well prepared for the challenges of tomorrow's world.

Over 80+ activities on offer each term for students from Year 1 to Year 13, including sports, creative and performing arts, Duke of Edinburgh and Model United Nations.
