About Knewton Global Schools Miri
Knewton Global Schools Miri is a multi-pathway campus offering Hornbills Pre-School, an English-curriculum International School and a Malaysian Private National School.
The campus has a long history. The school states that it began as Piasau Primary School, which it describes as the oldest international school in Malaysia. It later became Tenby Schools Miri in 2011 before being rebranded as Knewton Global Schools in 2020.
The school positions itself around three ideas: nurturing, inspiring and empowering. Its stated approach focuses on developing academic ability alongside confidence, resilience, critical thinking, collaboration, empathy and personal responsibility.
One of the more distinctive features is that families can choose between the British international pathway and Malaysian national curriculum while remaining on the same campus.
Hornbills Pre-School follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The school describes the programme as play- and interaction-based, with an emphasis on children's personal, social and emotional development.
The Foundation Class is specifically designed for children intending to enter Standard 1 of the Private National School stream, Sekolah Sri Knewton.
The International School follows the English National Curriculum. The school describes its approach as holistic and hands-on, with bilingual teaching assistants supporting primary students. English is used as the main language of communication and instruction apart from language subjects.
