About Sekolah Menengah Advent Tamparuli
Previously known as Sabah Adventist Secondary School, Sekolah Menengah Advent Tamparuli (SMAT) offers both primary and secondary school education. A private Christian school, it is operated by the Seventh-Day Adventist Mission in Sabah.The school began as missionary training school in the 30's before it closed down during the second world war and continued on post war as the Sabah Adventist Secondary School.
The schools operation and management is guided by denominational policies of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church along with Christian beliefs and practices. At the same time, it subscribes to Malaysia's national education policy, aims and objectives of empowering and educating children in Tamparuli, Sabah.
SMAT's medium of instruction is Bahasa Malaysia except for mathematics, science, art and bible studies, which are taught in English. Besides academics, students are also offered spiritual and pastoral guidance from the school staff.
Located in the interior of Sabah, SMAT has adequarte facilities and amenities in which students are cared for and provided tools to enhance the learning experience at SMAT.
The school also has a range of outdoor sporting facilities in which students can enjoy life outside of the classroom.
