The Lasallian Brothers, felt that majority of the Lasallian schools in Malaysia are restricted, melded my certain cultural characteristics. In order to achieve their educational mission in Malaysia, there is a need for a revitalization.
In order to take the initiative forward, the Lasallian Asian Partnerships for International Schools (LAPIS) was established, a private Lasallian entity which is run by three SJI Old Boys.
LAPIS considered a number of possible sites to run the school. In order to promote the Catholic life and the Lasallian ethos of the school, the location and the community of which the school is surrounded by, has to be just right.
Petaling Jaya is known to be one of the suburbs Kuala Lumpur that is filled with families with mixed religious backgrounds, more importantly the community is quite open to Catholic based schools.
With the Brothers' permission, St. Joseph's Institution International School Malaysia was established. Located between the housing areas in Tropicana, the school building is recognizable to any passing by drivers or pedestrians.
The construction for SJII-Malaysia began in July 2014, a few months before completion, parents were already eager to visit the new Lasallian school.
SchoolAdvisor recently visited the new Tropicana campus and we got an exclusive glimpse of what the Lasallian school will be like:
