The last week of October is knocking at the door with its bag full of treats. You know it will be a magnanimous celebration when two festivities fall around the same time - IT IS DEEPAVALI AND HALLOWEEN TIME FOLKS! Take out your most stunning outfit as well as spookiest costume and get ready for a week full of fun. Given below is a list of family-friendly events that are taking place all around Kuala Lumpur during this time. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your family and join the merriment.

From gorgeous Indian dresses to beautiful accessories, the pop-up stalls in the Deepavali bazaars all over KL have it all. Dress up like Kareena Kapoor or light firecrackers, whatever it is on your mind this Deepavali weekend, you are sure to have a blast shopping at these roadside stores.

Where – Jalan Masjid India and Brickfields

When – 6 pm to midnight

How to go – It can get very crowded in the evenings and hence finding parking can be a hassle. So, we advise taking public transport since both these locations are conveniently accessible by buses and trains.

If crowded Deepavali bazaars are not your thing, you can have a gala time going shopping mall hopping. Most malls will have extravagant Deepavali decorations put up that are mesmerising to look at. From colourful Kolam to lights, these malls dress themselves up beautifully to ring in the festival of lights with style. Many shopping malls also host various activities, workshops and Deepavali carnivals.

For the next two weekends, it is Halloween at Gamuda Cove. The entry is free and there are numerous fun-filled activities to keep you and your family entertained. There will also be a food bazaar to satiate your appetite.

Where – Gamuda Cove Experience Gallery, Bandar Gamuda Cove.

When – 26 – 27 Oct and 2 – 3 Nov from 4 pm to 10 pm.

Nights of Fright 7

Strictly for children above 13 years, Sunway Lagoon’s Nights of Fright 7 is truly the stuff of nightmares. From haunted houses to thrill rides, you will be transferred to a night of fear and trepidation. Prepare for a chilling night and make sure you are up for this because it is surely not for the faint-hearted.

Where – Sunway Lagoon

When – Every Friday to Sunday from 4 Oct to 9 Nov, from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

Deepavali Celebration and A Spooktacular Halloween Party

1 Mont Kiara has completely submerged itself in the groove of celebrations and is hosting both Deepavali as well as Halloween party for everyone. There are celebrations galore, from arts and crafts workshops, ballet performance, vadai eating competition to Halloween best-dressed contest. Just be there and you will be pulled into the festivities by the sheer force of fun and enjoyment.
