The smart education system currently being implemented in higher education institutions will soon be used in schools. The plan will be realised with the collaboration between Universiti Terbuka Malaysia (OUM) and Wistron Corporation.

The Institute of Professional Development of OUM (IPD-OUM) will be deploying Wistron Smart Education Solution System, an e-learning education system developed by the Taiwan-based technology service provider.

According to Wistron Corporation's Regional Director, Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin, the pilot project will be carried out in two private schools in the coming three months. The system is not just paperless – which is eco-friendly – but it also makes a student’s life easier through the introduction of a one study system.

The collaboration would improve the quality of e-education for students in Malaysia and the region, said OUM’s Vice president-business development Repin Ibrahim.
