This can only be accomplished by providing high quality English medium qualifications for students attending private or international schools in Malaysia with the British curriculum.AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance), the UK's largest provider of academic qualifications, has collaborated with the Oxford University Press, a department of the University of Oxford, to join venture and launch the Oxford AQA Exams.South East Asia is the second region to receive this qualifications after the Middle East. The benefit of this qualification is the rapid recognition it enjoys from a growing list of leading higher education institutions throughout the US, UK, Canada, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.Oxford AQA Exams will provide international GCSEs, AS and A-levels to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, initially focusing on English, Maths and Science, offering additional qualifications in the areas of business, computer science, geography and psychology.Additionally, there is a unique opportunity to get a research-based qualification known as the Individual Project Qualification, which enables students to expand their abilities beyond a mere A-levels qualification. This will help students excel, stand out and be prepared for their higher education and future career prospects.“The focus on educational outcomes has intensified globally with education playing a key role in driving economic growth, sustainability, competitiveness and innovation,” said Christine Ozden, Managing Director, Oxford International AQA Examinations. “Oxford AQA Exams will support teaching and learning throughout the region, and our qualifications will help support Malaysia and other South East Asian economies looking to raise standards and develop strong knowledge-based economies.”Oxford AQA Exams have new grading system known as 9-1 GCSE, currently being implemented in England. This grading system is designed to replace the existing A*-G grads. Our qualifications will really help young people in South East Asia to develop the skills they need to thrive in the world’s knowledge-based economies.”The qualifications have been developed with the expertise of more than 1,500 teachers, subject specialists and university academics to ensure that the content is suitable for students living outside of the UK and will mainly focus on subject knowledge and skills.Present at the launch was Her Excellency Vicky Treadell, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia, as well as key executives from Oxford AQA Exams: Christine Ozden, Managing Director, Oxford International AQA Examinations, and Andrew Hall, Chief Executive, AQA, and Alex Scharaschkin, Director of AQA’s Centre for Education Research and Practice.Oxford AQA Exams’ qualifications will be available for teaching from September 2017.
