On Wednesday, SK Sri Dasmesh suffered from flooding after a downpour. The private school claimed that an installation of a metal plate structure in the drain under the Kerinchi LRT station earlier this week was the cause of the flood.“We have never experienced such a bad flood for the past 10 years since we started operating here. Since the installation of the metal structure, the first flood we experienced was on Monday. But the flood on Wednesday has been the worst,” said School principal Jaswinder Kaur, reported by The Malaysian Reserve. The school sustained a RM100,000 loss due to the floods, she said.Sri Dasmesh founder Sukdev Singh said the school is now asking the authorities to explain the mess that the metal plate had caused. The flood on Wednesday affected two acres of land in Sri Dasmesh, SK Bangsar and Sri Muthumamariamman temple.

A source from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (DID) said that such a structure is usually installed for the purpose of creating a different level of water flow so that water flow can move faster. The DID source identified that the authority responsible for the installation was the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).Another source from New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd (NPE) said that the structure installed is in fact part of the Kuala Lumpur River of Life project under the highly anticipated Economic Transformation Programme — a rubbish trap.
