In the bustling halls of Beaconhouse Newlands Early Years International School, Bangsar, as part of our monthly theme "People Who Help Us", a special event unfolded, bringing together the community in a heartwarming display of education and camaraderie.

Corporal Dalbinder Singh from the Pantai Police Station, along with a squad of police officers, graced our school with his presence, embodying the spirit of service and safety. Clad in his distinguished police uniform, he captivated our young learners' attention, introducing them to the important role police officers play in keeping our society safe.

He led the session by sharing insights into his role, emphasising the importance of safety and following rules. He engaged the students in identifying police officers through their uniforms and badges. Then, he moved on to educate them on what to do in emergencies, including contacting the authorities and seeking help from trusted adults.

Our eager students were also briefed not only about emergency procedures but also about the importance of caution when interacting with strangers. Their inquisitive minds sparked a lively exchange of questions, including, "How do you know if a police officer is an actual police officer?"

Led by a dedicated Amazing Ants teacher, Siti Hajar Abdullah, our young learners engaged in a role-play scenario, teaching the children about "Stranger Danger" and showcasing the lessons learned from real-life situations. Witnessing the bravery of our police officers in action, the students gained a deeper understanding of safety and their role in their own protection.

But the excitement didn't end there. With gleaming eyes and enthusiasm, the children embarked on an unforgettable adventure, exploring police vehicles and experiencing the thrill of sounding sirens. Through this hands-on exploration, they not only learned about shapes and colours but also developed a profound appreciation for the everyday heroes who keep our streets safe.

This remarkable day exemplified the essence of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, where learning transcends the confines of textbooks, and real-world experiences ignite a passion for knowledge. As we reflect on this memorable event, we are reminded of the profound impact education and community collaboration have on shaping the minds of tomorrow's leaders.
