Students at IISM Primary are participating in co-curricular activities that expand their horizons beyond the classroom setting.

International Islamic School Malaysia Primary (IISMP) is known for its accomplishment in various fields, be it academic or co-curricular activities. At IISMP, we strongly believe in the balance between those two fields can lead the school, specifically the students, to shine. Moreover, Islam has taught us that we need balance in everything we do. Following this Islamic teaching, IISM Primary has come up with various activities for students to explore their passions, abilities, and confidence without neglecting their responsibility in the study.

Here at IISM Primary, we offer many activities to be explored by the students. Before the pandemic hits, our school has actively organised many events for the students in co-curricular activities. The Co-curricular Activities Department has offered several societies and sports activities for the students to join. For societies, we have the Malaysian Scout Society, Red Crescent Society, Editorial Club, Art and Craft Club, Kaizen Dojo, Living Skills Club, Quranic Skills Club, and Performance Club. In addition to the sports activities, we let the students enjoy learning badminton, archery, football, basketball, petanque, netball, table tennis and board games. In each co-curricular activity, the students will discover new skills and explore new talents. Eventually, they develop themselves to a new level. As every child is born with a speciality, we have faith that this is one of the platforms to let the kids discover their talents and passions.

Apart from the club and society activities, our school has organised Sports Day as well as Field Trip annually. During Sports Day, with the expertise of all teachers, the kids have been very excited in preparing themselves with fantastic costumes for the marching competition. The school has also offered track and field events alongside telematch for lower graders. Sports Day has been the long-awaited event for the year as the kids can channel their energy out and be proud of their accomplishments.

To uplift the energy of the students after spending the whole term at school, the Co-Curricular Activities Department also conducts Field Trip activities for them. The latest Field Trip that we had before the pandemic was a trip to Super Park at Avenue K for lower graders, and to Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani for upper graders. At Super Park, they have enjoyed themselves with wall climbing, ice skating, soccer, mini-bowling, and much more. Meanwhile, the trip to Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani allowed the children to learn the traditional life of Malay culture. They have learned kite flying, catching fish using their hands, ‘Batik Painting’, as well as exploring the beauty of the river and paddy field. Even though they have mud all over their bodies while catching fish, the smile they had on their faces show how they have enjoyed the moment. Students are taught through this Field Trip to be matured leaders and great team players. They have also learnt to tolerate and support each other in every experience they shared.

All in all, IISM Primary has prepared students to be excellent in their studies while enjoying their life as children. The balance between studying and exploring the world is essential for the kids to grow into healthy citizens, both physically and mentally. Let’s pray everything will be back to normal so that the kids can enjoy their deserved life experience in growing up as they are the future of the world and the torchbearer of the ummah.
