About Beaconhouse International School - Sri Inai Campus

Beaconhouse Sri Inai International School (BSIIS) is an all-through international school in Petaling Jaya, offering a continuous educational journey from Reception through Year 11. The school joined the Beaconhouse family in 2005 and subsequently transitioned from the Malaysian National Curriculum to the Cambridge Assessment International Education pathway. It is now fully international and welcomes students from Malaysia and overseas.

The school places strong emphasis on creating a safe, caring and respectful environment where students are encouraged to discover who they are, understand who they want to become and develop the skills needed to get there. Its educational approach combines academic achievement with pastoral care, wellbeing, creativity, sport and co-curricular experiences.

BSIIS aims to develop students into independent, global learners, with its learner profile focusing on characteristics including creativity, analytical thinking, resilience, curiosity, empathy, global awareness, ethical behaviour, self-sufficiency and digital literacy.

Early Years

Beaconhouse Sri Inai welcomes students from 4 years old into its Reception programme. Students follow the English National Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, preparing them for the transition into Year 1.

The Early Years programme focuses on active learning, enquiry, discovery and first-hand experiences rather than simply acquiring facts. Key areas include:

Creative development

Knowledge and understanding of the world

Language and literacy

Mathematical development

Personal and social development

Physical development

English, Malay and Mandarin are incorporated into the Early Years language and literacy programme.

The Primary programme covers Years 1–6 for students aged approximately 5–11, divided into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Students follow a structured Cambridge-based curriculum while developing academically, socially and creatively.

Subjects include:

English

Mathematics

Science

ICT

The Social Studies programme incorporates History and Geography within a British and global context, while Cambridge Primary English develops reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Students also have access to Cambridge Primary Checkpoint assessments. Students in Years 3–6 undertake Cambridge Progression Tests, culminating in the Primary Checkpoint Assessment in Year 6.

Students progress through Years 7–11, beginning with the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme before moving into the IGCSE pathway.

During Key Stage 3, students study a broad range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Art, Malay, Geography, World History, Music, Drama, Physical Education and Swimming. Mandarin and French are available as language options.

In Years 10 and 11, students follow a compulsory core curriculum alongside elective subjects as they work towards their Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. Subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Malay and Physical Education, with options such as Art & Design, Geography, Mandarin and other subjects.

Language learning forms an important part of the school's curriculum. Students have exposure to English, Malay and Mandarin, while French is also offered as an additional language option. In Primary, students can opt for French in place of Mandarin from Year 5.

Technology is integrated into the academic programme, with students developing ICT and digital literacy skills throughout their education.

The school has three ICT labs, where students progress from foundational computing skills towards coding and experimental activities, including designing robotic solutions to everyday problems.

Beaconhouse Sri Inai provides Learning Support for selected learners. Support may take place within the mainstream classroom or, where appropriate, through specialist lessons outside the classroom.
