For families who are not celebrating or not making the annual exodus out of Kuala Lumpur for the holidays, the Aidilifitri holiday break serves as the perfect opportunity to drive around Kuala Lumpur sans the traffic jams or the moving mass of people you see everyday. 

It is also the perfect time for families with children enjoying the summer break to enjoy in activities in which to bond family ties and relax.

 

Before we move onto the list of activities families can enjoy in Kuala Lumpurfor the Aidilfitri holidays, here are some tips:

1) Avoid driving out of KL; the roads are chocked with traffic heading back for the holidays.

2) It would be best to check the weather conditions as the heat wave and haze are making a comeback in a very bad way.

3) Ensure that the house is secured and properly locked. Burglaries and house break-in’s happen significantly more during the holiday period.

4) You are not the only family that is planning to go out, book and reserve tickets early to avoid being disappointed.

 

 

1) Book Hunting At The KL Bookfest 2014

With more than 600 exhibition booths with publishers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, The United States, Canada, Malaysia and much more, the Kuala Lumpur Bookfest this 26th of August at KLCC coincides with the 90th anniversary of POPULAR Malaysia, the book publishers.

The event will also have “meet the authors sessions” along with fun filled games, quiz and activities for children and the rest of the family.

2) Family Picnic at Desa Parkcity

Location: Desapark City, Kuala Lumpur

A beautiful lake that surrounds the park is ideal for a picnic. Situated near the International School@Park City, the park also offers jogging facilities and families can indulge in recreational activities such as kite flying at the park.

The exhibition which is hosted by the Korean Society of Malaysia will include a traditional Korean food exhibition which showcases Korea food and tea products along with Korean Brands in the food industry. There will also be traditional Korean performances alongside modern Korea Pop performances which highlights the very best of old and new Korea.

 

4) The Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower

Announced by the National Space Agency (ANGKASA), Malaysians will be able to enjoy a spectacular meteor shower this 28th of July 2014.

The annual meteor shower which happens during the end of July to August will coincide with the phases of a new moon which guarantees a perfect setting for families to enjoy a lovely night out under the stars.
