Sixth Form students at Marlborough College Malaysia celebrate after receiving their IB Diploma results this week. The year group have worked hard throughout the two-year course showing dedication and determination to achieve some outstanding results.

MCM candidates passed the IB with an average provisional score of 34.4 IB points, equivalent to an average of A*AA at A-Level. The world average IB score is 30. One in six students gained over 40 points, more than double the rate worldwide. Particular congratulations go to Bryan Chan, who gained an outstanding 44 points, earning himself a place on the College’s honours board for high IB scores.

These results follow a highly favourable evaluation of the College's IB policies and practices, conducted as part of its comprehensive 360-degree IB 5-year review. The review praised the programme at MCM, describing it as ‘holistic education at its best’ and noting that ‘the quality of the teaching was outstanding,’ reaffirming MCM's reputation for providing an exceptional educational experience.

Mr Simon Burbury, Master of the College said, “I am delighted to congratulate this year’s IB candidates whose achievements, well above the global average, are a real credit to the College. Our students' commitment and hard work have truly paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments. Every single one of them has brought an individual energy, personality and uniqueness to our community, and we are, as a College, all the better for it. They are about to disperse to all corners of the globe to take on further study at some of the world’s finest universities. I am quite sure they will all make a huge success of their future endeavours, taking that ‘Marlborough Spirit’ with them, and we wish them all the very best.”

IBDP is widely recognised as the world’s leading pre-university qualification and goes beyond acquiring subject knowledge, encouraging students to develop their communication and leadership skills. This aligns perfectly with the College’s educational philosophy to create ‘all-rounders’ who excel both academically and personally, preparing them for success in higher education and beyond.

Many MCM Sixth Form students have already been offered places at prestigious institutions worldwide including Harvard, the London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Durham, St. Andrews and Edinburgh Universities, Glasgow School of Art, and other institutions worldwide in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore and Malaysia. MCM students pursue a diverse array of courses ranging from Veterinary Science and Medicine to Law, Engineering, Business, Politics, Economics and the Arts.
