About Garden International School
Garden International School (GIS) is a long-established British international school in Kuala Lumpur, founded in 1951 . The school began with 33 students and two British teachers in the Lake Gardens area of Kuala Lumpur and has since grown into one of Malaysia's largest international schools, now educating more than 2,000 students across its Mont Kiara and Desa Sri Hartamas locations.
GIS provides a continuous educational pathway from Early Years through Sixth Form , with students progressing through a British-based curriculum before completing International GCSEs and A Levels .
The school describes its approach as combining strong academic outcomes with personalised guidance, pastoral care, character development and a broad range of opportunities beyond the classroom . GIS states that 99% of its graduates progress to their first- or second-choice universities, including Oxbridge and Ivy League institutions.
GIS is also part of Taylor's Schools .
GIS follows a British-based curriculum with an international outlook .
The educational journey is divided into:
Early Years – Ages 3–5
The Early Years programme follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and focuses on developing curiosity, confidence, independence and a love of learning.
Primary – Ages 5–11
The Primary curriculum develops strong academic foundations alongside personal and social development.

The school also incorporates Intercultural and Social Emotional Learning into the Primary curriculum.
Secondary – Ages 11–18
The Secondary pathway consists of:
- Key Stage 3: Years 7–9
- Key Stage 4: Years 10–11
- Key Stage 5 / Sixth Form: Years 12–13
Students complete International GCSEs in Years 10–11 before progressing to the school's A Level Sixth Form programme .
Students at GIS work towards:
- International GCSEs – Years 10–11
- A Levels – Years 12–13
- GIS Sixth Form Diploma
The Sixth Form Diploma supplements the A Level programme with opportunities to develop skills in areas such as research and leadership .
