Farm in the City (FITC) is not an ordinary petting zoo or public farm. The park targets to educate urban children about preservation and conservation with its Malaysian village setting and fruit orchard. Cages are not set up in the park to allow the animals to roam freely within special enclosures that are similar to their natural habitat.
Situated in the Lake Gardens, the KL Bird Park spans more than eight acres,housing more than 3,000 birds, and is among the world’s biggest covered bird parks. Visitors can also drop by the KL Butterfly Park in the Lake Gardens.
It’s a 45-minute drive out of KL city where visitors can explore various agricultural plants, from rubber trees and paddy fields to coffee and cocoa plants as well as a huge number of fruit trees. The park has six gardens, including the quirky mushroom garden and the fragrant spice garden. Bikes and fishing rods are also available for rent.
Aquaria KLCC features around 5,000 marine and aquatic animals. Major attractions include diving with sharks programme and the living sea exhibit. Children will surely love the feeding sessions, when eels, sharks and turtles gather to eat.
Besides the flora and fauna, space science discovery centre can also be an interesting place for the young ones. The Planetarium houses an observatory park, viewing gallery and space theatre that offer daily space science and sky shows.
