Pre-University Programmes at School Level

International schools are well known for providing quality education and producing exceptional graduates that would go on to perform well in their higher education.

However, parents and students might not know that some international schools offer pre-university programmes such as Form Six, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), A-Levels, and other types. These programmes are well known for preparing children for university life and preparing them to work beyond academics.

Moreover, parents who intend to send their kids abroad will benefit greatly from such programmes because students could be on the fast track to tertiary education where a considerable amount of time will be saved.

At International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), students in Grade 11 and 12 have two options to choose from as the school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the Pursuits Program. Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) offers the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) which is equivalent to A Levels, IB Diploma or STPM to Year 11 and 12 students. Pre-university students have the opportunity to attend a leadership camp at Trinity College, University of Melbourne that will provide a university residential college life experience, in preparation for their first year of tertiary education.

3. Epsom College in Malaysia

The school offers Fast Track A Level Programme, which aims to truncate the time spent between the conclusion of the national SPM examinations and the onset of A Level study. The programme is only offered to both day and boarding pupils.

Alice Smith School offers external examinations for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for students ages 14 to 16 and the A Level qualification for the Sixth Formers. Offering the IB Diploma Programme (DP), UCSI International School Springhill campus opens the programme for students aged 16 to 19 to prepare them for successful life at university and beyond. The programme has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students.

7. Garden International School (GIS)

Garden International School's Sixth Form programme is based on UK A Level following the Cambridge or Edexcel examination board syllabi. The GIS A Level programme takes place at their Sixth Form Centre, which caters to students in their final two years (Year 12 and 13) at school. GIS recognises the need to furnish students with soft skills that will prepare them for life beyond school. Thus, the students are given the opportunity to gain such skills through work experience provided by the school.

Help International School’s Asian Scholars A-Level Leadership Programme seeks to develop an all-rounder leader in A Levels students. 9. Marlborough College

Marlborough College offers the 2-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for students aged 16 to 19. This programme requires students to choose three Higher Level subjects and three Standard Level subjects from six fixed subject groups such as Studies in Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies (Humanities), Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and Arts.

10. Sayfol International School

Sayfol International School offers International A-Level Programme to learners aged 17 to 18. It is an intensive programme covering 3 semesters that enables students to study in a collaborative environment and nurture themselves for the next level of their tertiary education. With a small class size, students are given 100% attention and guidance by their lecturers.
