About The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL)

Established in 1965, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) is the first fully accredited international school in Malaysia and is home to more than 1,500 students from over 60 countries.

ISKL is a private and nonprofit, parent-governed school accredited internationally through the Council of International Schools (CIS), and in the United States through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). ISKL is also accredited through the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB), the first IB accredited school in Malaysia.

Over the years, ISKL has built its outstanding international reputation by balancing sound tradition for academic excellence with innovative approaches to teaching and learning. We nurture young minds with the spirit to succeed, preparing them for a lifelong journey of opportunities ahead of them with determination and confidence.

International School of Kuala Lumpur offers programmes from Prep Reception (3 years old) to High School diploma which is either the International Baccalaureate diploma Programme IBDP, IB Diploma or Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

ISKL is a technologically advanced school, and technology plays an important role in the lives of the students and teachers. At ISKL service-learning is utilized both in the classroom and in co-curricular clubs/activities.

Though Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is not a required component of all service learning experiences, it does provide an excellent foundation upon which to identify issues that have global significance, but which are dealt with (through service learning) at the local level.

In short, service learning is a natural bridge of the ESD curriculum and compliments ISKL's school wide learning results (SLRs).

With approximately 25.7 acres of land, ISKL will provide the most advanced learning environment featuring academic, arts, and athletic resources.

From world-class science labs, classrooms, art facilities, and three libraries, the school also includes flexible spaces designed to incorporate the latest in teaching and learning concepts. With extensive playing fields, an Olympic sized track, two gymnasia, and tennis courts, the new campus is adorned with superb sports facilities.

Also, the standout Aquatics Complex includes one 50-meter Olympic sized competition pool, a 25-meter daily activity pool, and a learn-to-swim pool for young learners.

The Performing Arts Center (PAC), with four distinct elements, will showcase local and regional events that serve the needs of the community well beyond that of ISKL. Included in this complex will be a purpose-built 700 seat Performance Theatre, an Atrium Amphitheatre, and plans for further completion of a Concert Recital Hall and Black Box Theatre.

The building is designed to achieve the Green Building Index (GBI) Platinum rating, will serve as a laboratory for the study and understanding of environmentally sustainable practice. The school reflects the institution's ethos and focus on care for the environment.

The school values the involvement of parents in the life of the school and as such, has intentionally created gathering spaces for parents and volunteers to meet. From a full-service Coffee Shop, to parent lounges and dedicated Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) spaces, the campus design supports ISKL’s unique and warm community.
