British Boarding Schools in Malaysia

Boarding schools are usually the first option when parents want their children to develop discipline and becoming less dependent on the family. When asked “What are the best choices for boarding schools?”, the usual answer would almost always be the ever prestigious British boarding schools.

Negeri Sembilan

1. Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar (KTJ)

Boarding Age: 11 years old – 19 years old

Accommodation: 11 years old – 16 years old (Sharing up to 3 person per room at most)  

                                17 years old – 19 years old (Single bedroom per student)

Boarding Fees: RM 9,950 per term (3 terms per academic year)

Students who board in KTJ would find that the boarders will be placed according to their age into either Junior House & Senior House. Junior House is divided by 2 sections; Naquiah (Boys) & Naquiah (Girls), while Senior House allocate the boarders into 3 Houses for girls and 4 Houses for boys.

2. Epsom College Malaysia

Boarding Age: 11 years old – 18 years old

Accommodation: Junior Houses (4-bed studies per room)

                               Senior Houses (2-bed studies per room)

                               Sixth-Form (Single-study room)

Boarding Fees: RM 48,000 per year

There are 6 boarding houses for boys and girls; 4 senior boarding houses & 2 transition houses. Each of the houses provide facilities such as PS4, satellite TV, home cinema, table tennis, pool, table football & house gyms.

Johor

1. Marlborough College Malaysia

Boarding Age: 9 years old – 18 years old

Accommodation: Prep Boarding (Year 5 – Year 8)

                               Senior Boarding (Year 9 – Year 13)

                               Day Boarding

Boarding Fees: RM 18,000 – RM 19,000 per term (3 terms per academic year)

There are 6 boarding houses that form communities of between 50 and 60 pupils, under the leadership of a housemaster or housemistress who are directly responsible for the welfare and progress of those in their care. Also serving the Houses are Resident House Tutors and teams of visiting tutors.

Selangor

1. King Henry VIII College

Boarding Age: 11 years old – 18 years old

Boarding Fees: RM 38,000 per year (Weekly: Monday – Friday)

                            RM 42,000 per year (Full Boarding)

Each House is fully staffed with Houseparents, a Resident Tutor, and other Resident Assistants. A programme of weekend activities and excursions ensure that boys and girls who are away from home are relaxed, occupied and content throughout.

1. Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS)

Boarding Age: 11 years old – 18 years old

Boarding Fees:

• Full Boarding Twin Room: RM 12,000
• Full Boarding Single Room: RM 13,500
• Weekly Boarding Twin Room: RM 9,600
• Weekly Boarding Single Room: RM 11,100
• Flexi Boarding Twin Room: RM 185 (per night)
• Flexi Boarding Single Room: RM 230 (per night)

At the Prince of Wales Island International School there is full, seven days-a-week boarding, but also weekly boarding (where the pupil lives in the school Monday to Friday, returning home at weekends) and flexi-boarding, when (space permitting) pupils can stay for just one night or several to suit their needs.
